About This Blog

Matthew 5:15-16 (NIV)

Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

My name is Mark S. Haynes. I am a Navy veteran, currently working at Walgreen’s. I am Catholic by choice, but I am socially and politically progressive, especially supportive of LGBT rights. I am a member of the Green Party and Sierra Club.

You cannot have a rational discussion with an irrational person. So my blog entries are not meant to change minds. Rather, they are meant to spark interest, and to inspire, and to call to action like-minded people, so that our voice becomes louder.

Read Jesus’ words; He was (and is) progressive. His words call for tolerance, not judgment. He calls for acceptance, not rejection. He calls on us to feed the hungry and clothe the naked. Jesus calls for love. Much of what you hear from the conservative right is not loving; it is hateful.

This is my way of standing up against hate and bigotry. This is my way of sharing the Good News. This is my way of contributing to the cause of inclusion, acceptance, compassion, empathy, generosity, fairness, and responsibility.

Have a Blessed Day!
